Multiple Massachusetts fire departments responded to a house blaze that injured a firefighter Tuesday.
The fire broke out at about 4 p.m. at a home in Springfield's Longfellow Terrace, WWLP-TV reports. Windy conditions spread the flames to a neighboring home, causing significant damage.
A firefighter was injured while battling the blaze and taken to the hospital. Details about how the firefighter was hurt were not released, and Springfield Fire Capt. Drew Piemonte told WWLP that he didn't know the extent of the injuries.
Along with the Springfield Fire Department, crews from West Springfield, Westover, East Longmeadow and Wilbraham also responded. Holyoke firefighters provided station coverage.
The house where the blaze originated was destroyed. The fire that reached both homes displaced five adults and two children.
